"Talk with an Astronaut"

This week we read an interview with Ellen Ochoa, the world's first Hispanic female astronaut.  In class we discussed what life would be like as an astronaut.  What is something you learned this week?  Would you like to live the life of an astronaut?  Why or why not?

How does technology help adventurers reach new places?

Hey there!

This week we read the a story about the Titanic.  The question of the week was asking us to think about, "how does technology help adventurers reach new places?" We had a lot of great discussions among the class.  The Titanic was an interesting topic.

For your response this week, I would like you to blog about something you learned that you didn't know before OR respond to the question of the week.  I look forward to reading your thoughtful responses.

How can we find adventure in ordinary events?

Greetings 5th Graders!

This week we discussed how an ordinary event in life can turn into an adventure.  There were several examples given in class.  One example that comes to my mind was the time we were all walking to gym and there was a BAT hanging from the doorway!!! Who would've thought that we would encounter a bat on our routine walk to P.E. class?!  That definitely turned an ordinary day into an adventure for us and other people at Lindop.

Your task is to share a personal experience from when YOU had an ordinary event turn into an adventure.  Explain what made it an adventure.  Make sure to use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.

Have a great weekend!

Math: Fraction, Percent, and Decimal PowerPoint

Hello Math Class,

While in the computer lab it is your job to create a power-point that shows the fraction, decimal, percent, and picture of a number.  You must include a title page. Your goal is to make a page for a minimum of three different numbers. Follow the link below to see an example. GOOD LUCK!
