Mahalia Jackson

This week we are reading an expository text about Mahalia Jackson. Below is a link to the song, "How I Got Over" by Mahalia Jackson. Mahalia Jackson moved to Chicago when she was sixteen. She was a favorite artist of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mahalia sang this song at the March on Washington just before King gave the infamous "I Have a Dream" speech.

  1. Dear Ms.Eck my favorite artist is Kirk Franklin because of his song "SMILE" I like it because he's trying to tell us to smile when we feel sad or angry, but the most important reason I like this song is because he's talking about when your sad or angry that god will always be there with u thick or thin.

Yes, Christal, you will still be able to participate in the spelling bee. Get better fast and see me when you get back for what you missed.
